When things feel stuck, overwhelming, or harder than they should be.
Many of the people I work with are high-functioning externally while privately carrying chronic stress, self-pressure, emotional exhaustion, relationship difficulties, or a persistent feeling that life has gradually become harder than it should be.
Therapy can help you feel more emotionally grounded, clearer about what is keeping you stuck, and better able to respond differently in your relationships, work, and daily life.
My approach is warm, direct, practical, and insight-oriented. I work collaboratively with clients to help them better understand themselves, navigate difficult emotions more effectively, improve important relationships, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Hi, I’m David Slatkin, LCSW
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and used to handling a lot on their own, but find themselves feeling stuck, overwhelmed, emotionally disconnected, or repeating patterns they want to change.
If you’ve never tried therapy before, have had disappointing experiences in the past, or feel unsure whether therapy will actually be helpful, you’re not alone.
Clients often describe my approach as warm, direct, practical, and genuinely supportive. My goal is to create a space where you feel emotionally safe enough to be honest while also creating meaningful movement, not passive listening or endless analysis.
Optional canine-assisted therapy with my therapy dog, Sona, is also available for clients who find animal companionship supportive.

That’s a common concern.

I offer private-pay therapy for adults, older teens (15+), and couples.
Individual therapy sessions are $200 for 55 minutes.
Couples therapy sessions are $300 for 90 minutes.
While I do not bill insurance directly, I provide superbills for clients with out-of-network benefits who wish to pursue reimbursement through their insurance plan.
Many clients choose private-pay therapy because it offers greater privacy, flexibility, and freedom in treatment without the limitations often imposed by insurance companies.

Finding the right therapist matters.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation so we can briefly discuss what’s bringing you in, answer any questions you may have, and get a sense of whether working together feels like a good fit.
A strong therapeutic fit often comes down to feeling understood, respected, and confident that the work can be genuinely helpful.

Yes. I work with older teens (15+), young adults, college students, and graduate students navigating anxiety, ADHD, identity questions, academic stress, confidence and performance pressure, life transitions, family dynamics, and relationship challenges.
This can include struggles related to motivation, perfectionism, social stress, self-esteem, athletic performance, or uncertainty about what comes next.
For parents reaching out about a teen, I’m happy to speak first to answer questions and discuss fit.
